More Than Just a Recipe

Participants will create a book-like structure based on an ingenious system of organizing important items which was developed by women living in remote Chinese provinces. We ask that you bring a beloved recipe to inscribe onto pages. The beauty of this structure, known as Zhen Xian Bao, is that it contains flat internal boxes that can expand to reveal a cornucopia of information and memories. You will be able to write out details that a simple recipe can’t include. Also, think about who you shared this meal with. What are its origins? Show us your photos as the well-worn pages you refer to, and anything and everything else that comes to mind. The resulting, elegantly constructed packet will be a multilayered keepsake story of something you care about, personalizing in a way that only you can do.
